俺の大切な仲間に堀田勝彦という男がいる。
音楽界隈ならヘヴィメタルバンドMAVERICKのリーダー堀田と言えば分かって貰えるかもしれない。
彼とは1980年代後半に知り合い俺の主催イベントにMAVERICKで出演してくれたり時には俺のイベントのスタッフをしてくれたりしてくれた。
俺が17年前に札幌から春日部に移住してからはあまり連絡する事もなくお互いFacebookなどで近況を確認してた。
そんな堀田からmessengerが届いた。
Facebookの投稿にコメントしてくれる事はあるけどmessengerは初めて。
見てみると愕然とする事が書いてあった。
何処まで公開して良いのか分からないが…
2023年4月29日に前脊髄動脈症候群を発症。
半年の入院期間を経て、現在も日々リハビリを続けているが症状も酷いらしい。
四肢麻痺(両腕手指両脚足指) 特に両手の指は普通に動かす事が不可能。
温解離性知覚障害(温痛覚障害)
膀胱直腸障害(排尿排便障害)
messengerもまともに指が動かないので親指で何とか打ち込んだらしい。
病気の症状はもう少し細かく書かれていたが文字で見る以上に現状は深刻に違いない。
絶望感に襲われて当たり前の現状だか…
最後にこう書かれていた。
「医師には、これ以上治る可能性は低いと言われましたが、これからの自分の人生を考慮し、再生医療の幹細胞治療を受ける決心しました。
保険適用外の自由診療ですので、治療費は莫大な費用を要します。
その為に、この度、クラウドファンディングのプロジェクトを立ち上げる予定です。」
普段は辛い姿など見せず泣き言も言わない男が俺にもヘルプを求めて来たという事は余程精神的にも金銭的にも追い詰められている証拠だと思う。
俺も闘病している身なので大した事は出来ないがクラウドファンディングが行われれば参加したいと思う。
堀田に少しでも笑顔が戻る事を切に願う。
そしてこの現状でも諦めない心に敬意をはらいたい。
今の世の中、給料は上がらないのに物価や光熱費はガンガン上がり生きていくのが嫌にもなるけど、ただ普通に生きたいのにそれが出来ない闘病者が沢山います。
俺のメッセージを見て堀田へのクラウドファンディングに参加しても良いよ！という方がいらっしゃいましたら何卒よろしくお願い致します。

One of my important friends is Katsuhiko Hotta.
In the music industry, you might know me as Hotta, the leader of the heavy metal band MAVERICK.
I met him in the late 1980s, and he performed with MAVERICK at events I hosted, and sometimes worked as a staff member at my events.
After I moved from Sapporo to Kasukabe 17 years ago, we didn\'t contact each other much, but we checked each other\'s status on Facebook and other places.
I received a messenger from Hotta.
He sometimes comments on my Facebook posts, but this is the first time I\'ve seen him on messenger.
When I looked at it, I was shocked to see what he wrote.
I don\'t know how much I can make public, but...
On April 29, 2023, he developed anterior spinal artery syndrome.
After six months of hospitalization, he is still undergoing daily rehabilitation, but his symptoms are apparently severe.
He is quadriplegic (both arms, fingers, legs, and toes). In particular, he is unable to move the fingers of both hands normally.
Thermal dissociative sensory disorder (thermal pain sensation disorder)
Bladder-rectum disorder (urinary and defecation disorder)
He couldn\'t move his fingers properly, so he just typed on messenger with his thumb.
The symptoms of the disease were written in more detail, but the current situation must be more serious than it looks from the words.
It\'s only natural that he would be overcome with a sense of despair...
At the end of the message he wrote:
"The doctor told me that there is little chance of recovery, but considering my future, I have decided to undergo regenerative medicine stem cell therapy.
As this is an elective treatment that is not covered by insurance, the treatment will cost a huge amount of money.
To that end, I am planning to start a crowdfunding project."
The fact that this man, who normally doesn\'t show any signs of distress or complain, came to me for help is proof that he is extremely cornered, both mentally and financially.
I\'m also fighting an illness, so I can\'t do much, but if there is a crowdfunding campaign, I would like to participate.
I sincerely hope that Hotta\'s smile will return, even if only a little.
I would also like to express my respect for his determination to not give up even in this current situation.
In today\'s world, salaries are not increasing while prices and utility bills are rising rapidly, making it hard to live, but there are many people fighting illness who just want to live a normal life but are unable to do so.
If there is anyone who sees my message and would like to participate in crowdfunding for Hotta, I would be very grateful.
