Introduction
Hello, my name is Livingstone Kyeyune (center).
In 2009, I co-founded the Fukuoka-Uganda Friendship Association, and together we have built 25 safe water sources across Uganda and carried out many other support activities.

Now, we are working on building a school where young people can gain practical skills for self-reliance.
Your support will help create a place of learning that can change the future of rural youth.
The Social Issue We Want to Solve
Uganda is one of the youngest countries in the world, with 77% of its population under 25.
However, many young people do not have the chance to learn skills. This often leads to unemployment, urban migration, poverty, and in some cases, risky situations such as crime or prostitution.
In rural areas, the lack of science labs and vocational training opportunities makes it difficult for youth to gain skills that lead to real jobs.
- About 30–37% of high school students drop out.
- 42% of youth are not in education, employment, or training (NEETs).
As more young people leave for cities, rural communities are left with only children and elderly people, losing their economic vitality.
Background of This Project
In 2015, we purchased land in Bukomero, about 70 km from Kampala. Since 2018, with limited funds, we have slowly built four classrooms and a library.
The local leaders of Bukomero officially requested us to create a vocational training space for youth, which inspired this project.
Through our past support (like well construction), we realized that “skill-based education” is essential to truly change the future of the youth.
What We Aim to Achieve
We are building the Bukomero Practical Skill & Science Lab Secondary School.
This school will allow youth to learn by “doing, experimenting, and creating”, preparing them for real jobs.
We aim to raise 22 million yen (approx. USD 150,000) to establish:
- Science Laboratory – Equipped with microscopes, test tubes, and lab chemicals to turn science into hands-on learning.
- Vocational Training Workshops – Woodwork, tailoring, welding, electrical wiring (including solar installation).
- Digital Learning Center – Computer lab with laptops and projectors for ICT, programming, and research skills.
- School Facilities – Safe classrooms, dormitories, toilets, health room, dining hall, and solar power.
- Perimeter Fence – To protect children and prevent theft.
- Educational Materials – Textbooks, lab tools, ICT devices, and art supplies.
Our Vision for the Future
Each year, over 300 youth will graduate with practical skills, enabling them to find jobs or start small businesses locally.
- They will become service providers (electricians, tailors, carpenters, welders).
- Women and youth with disabilities will also be included.
- The project will boost the local economy and reduce migration to cities.
This is not just a construction project, but a step toward creating a future of independence and community resilience.
Rewards for Supporters
As a token of appreciation, we will provide:
- LINE Open Chat Access – Exclusive updates with photos and stories from Uganda.
- Ugandan Fair-Trade Coffee (100g, 200g, or 500g).
- Thank-You Video from Children – Heartfelt messages from students.

Use of Funds
Total Goal: 22 million yen (~150,000 USD)
- School Construction & Facilities (11 million yen)
- Science Lab, Computer Lab, Toilets, Dormitories, Health Room, Dining Hall, Perimeter Fence.
- Educational Materials (11 million yen)
- Science tools, computers, vocational training machines, textbooks, solar power equipment.
Even if the goal is not fully reached, we will use all funds to move forward and provide returns to all supporters.
The Future We Envision
This project will create a model case for rural Uganda:
- Skilled youth – Over 300 students annually graduate with real job skills.
- Local businesses – Graduates start workshops and small enterprises.
- Family unity – Youth no longer need to migrate to cities for work.
- Women empowerment – Female graduates become role models and economic leaders.
- Positive ripple effect – Success stories inspire entire communities.
- Self-sustaining communities – Reduced poverty and reliance on external aid.
It is about creating independence, dignity, and hope.
We believe in the potential of every young person in Bukomero. With the right skills, they can shape their own future and transform their community.
Together, we can turn Bukomero into a place known not for poverty, but for innovation, resilience, and youth-driven growth.
Please join us in building this school and supporting the future of Uganda’s youth.
