敵対感情を越えてアフリカの若者が信頼関係を築くためのワークショップを実施したい！

Message from our Partner: Rodrigue, YENA Program Coordinator

パートナーからのメッセージ：ロドリグ（YENAプログラム・コーディネーター）

Hello everyone! I am Rodrigue, the Coordinator of YENA (Youth Empowerment for Nonviolent Action), a program partly supported by "TuriKumwe."

日本の皆さん、こんにちは！「とりくむゑ」から資金提供を頂くYENA事業コーディネーターのロドリグと申します。

I am from Burundi, and I previously lived in Japan, where I completed an exchange program and my Master’s course at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies.

私はブルンジの出身で、過去に日本へ留学し、東京外国語大学の交換留学を行い、修士課程を修了しました。

In a region characterized by cross-border violence and persistent hate speech among communities, my marriage to a Congolese woman, with whom I have welcomed our son and built our home in Rwanda, has made me realize that peace is not confined to national borders. Rather, peace is a shared regional responsibility that must be nurtured across the region.

国境を越えた暴力やヘイトスピーチが続くアフリカ大湖地域において、私はコンゴ人の妻と出会って結婚し、ルワンダで息子を授かり家庭を築きました。そして実感したのです。平和とは一国内で達成されるものでなく、むしろ地域全体で育んでいかなければならない「地域共通の責任」なのだ、と。

Looking back, I was once highly skeptical of peacebuilding myself. My father was originally a civil engineer building bridges across the country, but the tragic wars in Burundi destroyed them. That was when he decided to build peace as he became a peacebuilding practitioner.

私自身、かつては平和構築に対して非常に懐疑的でした。私の父はもともと土木技術者で、国中に橋を建設 (build)していました。しかしブルンジの悲惨な戦争がそのすべてを破壊してしまいました。その時、父は「まず平和を築く(build)べきだ」と決意し、平和活動家へと転身したのです。

In 2015, I graduated from high school right in the middle of a severe political crisis. Seeing my father's tireless efforts, I still couldn't help but feel a lingering sense of despair about the future.

2015年、私は激しい政治危機の真っ只中で高校を卒業しました。父の努力を間近で見つつも、当時の私は、未来に対する絶望感をもたらずにはいられませんでした。（＊注：2015年、三選禁止の憲法改正を目指した当時のンクルンジザ大統領に反発が広がる中、軍によるクーデター未遂が発生。その後の政情不安により、少なくとも12万人以上が国外へ逃れた。 ）

However, my entire worldview shifted when I studied at the Protestant University of Rwanda (PUR) and met Prof. Kazuyuki Sasaki, along with fellow students from across the Great Lakes Region who were studying peace together. Watching everyone build cross-border trust and find common ground made me firmly believe that peace is truly possible. That was the moment I dedicated my life to this field.

しかし、ルワンダの大学（PUR）で佐々木和之先生や、共に平和学を学ぶ大湖地域出身の仲間たちと出会い、私の世界観は大きく変わりました。国境や民族を越えて信頼を築き、共通理解を見出していく仲間たちの姿を見て「この地域でも平和は実現可能だ」と確信したのです。それが、私が平和構築に人生をかけると決意した瞬間でした。

In our region, complex conflicts have continued since the early 1990s, leaving more than 65% of the youth trapped in a sense of hopelessness, deep prejudices, and distrust.

私たちの暮らす地域では、1990年代初頭から複雑な紛争が続いており、人口の65%以上を占める多くの若者が、偏見や不信感、そして将来への絶望にとらわれています。

Today, we run YENA as a youth network across the Great Lakes Africa, empowering young people to connect across borders and practice nonviolent peacebuilding.

現在、私たちはYENAをアフリカ大湖地域全体の若者のためのネットワークとして運営し、彼らが国境を越えて繋がり、非暴力の平和構築を実践できるような支援を行っています。

Every donation you make to this crowdfunding campaign will be delivered to YENA through TuriKumwe. Your support will be carefully used to fund our 10-day YENA Peace Camp in Rwanda, as well as essential peace education workshops in Bujumbura (Burundi), Goma, and Bukavu (DR Congo).

今回のクラウドファンディングで頂くご寄付は、とりくむゑを通じてYENAに届けられ、ルワンダでの10日間の平和キャンプ開催、そしてブルンジやコンゴでの重要な平和教育ワークショップのために大切に活用させて頂きます。

In these workshops, young people will learn about various vital topics, including trauma healing, as well as digital skills to combat online hate speech and fake news that fuel local division.

これらのワークショップを開催することで、トラウマと癒しのケアや分断を煽るSNS上のヘイトスピーチやフェイクニュースに対抗するためのデジタルスキルなど、様々なトピックについて若者たちが学ぶ機会を提供したいと思っています。。

Every single yen you contribute to help our youth stand up with hope is a seed planted. I promise you, it will bear the fruits of peace sooner or later.
